2005 Season
The 2005 season was success for Adam Spingler. He won the H3 class of NASA Honda Challenge. All started on April 30 when all five classes of the NASA Mid-Atlantic Region's East Coast Honda Challenge rolled into Carolina Motorsports Park for the first races of the season. The weather was threatening to be wet on Saturday and it lived up to it, leaving teams scrambling to figure out which setup to use for qualifying and the race. Fortunately when it came time for the race, the sun had shown through and dried the track, setting up an exciting race with tight action from the very first turn. Zsolt Ferenczy set the pace for H3 in his Integra GS-R and taking the class win over Adam Spingler's Prelude and Robert Wilson's Integra GS-R. Sunday's weather conditions were a polar opposite from the previous day, with the sun shining through and zero chance of precipitation. H3 saw Spingler and his Prelude run another consistent race and taking the class win on Sunday.
The second round of the NASA Mid-Atlantic Region's East Coast Honda Challenge took place at Races New Shenandoah Circuit. There was much speculation as to how the track would lend itself to racing with its snaking turns, elevation changes, and a replica of the banked "carrousel" turn from the famed Nurburgring Nordschliefe circuit in Germany. On Saturday Adam Spingler ran an uncontested H3 class race in his Prelude, but had a great battle for overall position with Andrew Zimmermann's H4 Integra. Both ran nose to tail for most of the race, showing the fans some exciting racing. Next day Adam again went on to take an uncontested H3 victory and was working towards a class championship.
Next event was hold at Hyper-Fest at Summit Point on July 29-31, 2005. Adam Spingler put in another consistent and uncontested race to take all of the points in H3 with his yellow Prelude. He did the same thing next day. After this event Adam granted the class championship and decided to skip next two events and return at the last event where he damaged his car on Saturday and exited the race. Anyways Adam Spingler became 2005 champion in H3 Class with total 640 points. |
