Jim Anderson's Pro Rally Honda Prelude
 page 1 of 8next

Jim Anderson and his 1993 Honda Prelude participated in Pro Rally of Sport Car Club of America (SCCA). The SCCA is a non-profit organization featuring the most active membership participation in motorsports today with over 2000 amateur and professional motor sport events each year. PRO Rally is the fastest, most exciting form of rallying sanctioned by the SCCA today.

PRO Rally is about flat-out racing against the clock, one vehicle at a time, on courses ranging from gravel logging roads to dusty desert paths. Rallies never blaze new trails however and organizers repair any environmental damage caused by the participants.

Jim Anderson competed in Production Car class. Production class cars must have been offered for sale in the US. Production class cars have engines smaller than 2.65 liters (after some engine size multipliers are calculated such as for Turbo, VTEC, 4 valves/cylinder, etc). Apart from safety modifications, stronger shocks, and racing mufflers, these cars are practically identical to the cars that leave the showroom.

Over the course of the season, drivers compete for championship points. Rally events fall into two categories: full National events and 60% events. Each National rally awards drivers 2 points for starting the event. No starting points are awarded for 60% events.

Jim Anderson acquired his Honda Prelude on February of 1993. This year the he participated NCAC series to get familiar with the new car. The only modifications made were:

  • 6-point Roll Cage
  • Quaife Limited Slip Differential
  • TerraTrip 404 Rally Computer
  • Sparco Competition Seats with 6-point Restraints
  • 1/4" Aluminum Skid Plate
  • Personal Fittapalldi Steering Wheel
  • Hella 3000 Driving Lamps (100W each)
  • Michelin L-series Rally Tires
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Performance Exhaust Muffler
  • Braided Steel Brake Lines
  • High-performance Springs and Shocks
