This manual will help you make your Honda Prelude a bit more JDM. This article describes a very popular procedure of changing USDM cluster into JDM. It is not just a pull-and-replace operation, so here is the step-by-step guide.
First of all here is the list of parts and tools you will need:
- JDM cluster
- USDM cluster
- Wires
- JDM cluster plugs
- Screwdriver
- Wire Stripper
- Something to cut plastic (dremel, needle nose pliers, etc)
The following tools are optional but recommended:
- Electrical Tape
- Soldering Iron
- Solder
First of all remove the speaker covers. To do this just pull the side with the screwdriver and disconnect the speakers connectors. Now peel off the visor molding. Then unscrew eight screws of the visor trim panel. Now there is a blind visor at the left of gauges cluster. It is mounted with a single screw at the top. After all you can remove the gauges assembly.
Open the USDM and JDM clusters by removing all the screws in the white plastic. Do not play around with the needles! They will get busted if you play around with them.

Remove the face and remove the USDM large bulbs and switch them to the JDM one. This is so you don't have to splice these wires like I did before I thought of this. Put the face back on the cluster.

Top one JDM bottom one USDM | You need to modify these 2 tabs | You also have to modify this one |
Now modifying the cover. As you can see at the picture above the covers are different so we will now modify the USDM one so that it will fit in your dash without any problems. You need to modify two tabs as shown at the second picture above on the USDM one not the JDM. Then modify the tabs shown on the third image and on the first image below.
