Help,

New owner of this fabulous motor, my problem though is when I switch from dip to high beam the lights switch off completely, very scary on the country roads of Bedfordshire.

The car is fitted with a Scorpion immobiliser, access point thingy is up on the steering column under the light switch gear, it's one of these you put a plastic key against until a light goes green then you can start the engine.

Does anyone know if this would be something to do with the headlights or is the headlight thing a common fault needing new switchgear ?

Thanks in advance all

I dont think so, simply because my car dose the exact same thing. and i dont have that, but it has a security syestem as well pretry much an alarm that blinks the running lights i dont know if yours dose the same thing or not. But that could do with it. Ill have to look into that for us both. i know how u been when im hitting the country roads with vemon around all the turns and my lights go out my asshole tightens Tongue out

Had a nose round some other sites, the civic and a few others have a problem with the lights switchgear on the steering column, changing this seems to fix it, wonder if it's all Hondas then ?

I'll give it a go and post the results

An update !

Well turns out to have nothing to do with the switch at all, I've found if you open the bonnet and give the relay box (top left hand side of the engine compartment on the European models) a squeeze the lights come back again and work for a while, obviously something amiss here, don't know if it's one of the relays playing silly buggers (a good game) or the relay box itself just having a laugh, I'll be taking the whole thing apart when I have more time and find out what the hell is going on.

Report back when I have more

ah i see, then that means the cause is most likly the relay fuseboxes rarly go out, but there is a possibility that the female end may been to swezed a little tighter. i would try that first the maybe replacing the relay. i would but im borke :D

Found if you pull it out and push it back in the lights work for a while, so if you check everytime you start up it's a matter of seconds to pop the bonnet and pull the relay out and push in if needed !

Don't know why yet, but I'll work on it !

Cheers
